Art Masterpiece

I have been going in to Lacy's classroom every week to volunteer with random things. It is so fun to be around her and all the other Kindergartner's. Every few weeks I get to go in and do an Art Masterpiece with the kids. I did some training at the beginning of the year and so far have absolutely loved it. I saw one of the boys in her class at the park and he says "Hey Mom, thats my art teacher". It was adorable. I am far from an art teacher but it is fun to go in there and talk about art and do fun projects with them. I wish I would have snapped pictures of each project we did but alas, I am still with out a camera and have to rely solely on my I-phone. I snapped a couple of the last two projects. They were both a huge success (we have had one or two flops but the kids still loved it, none the less)

This is the one we did during Dr. Seuss week. We talked about self portraits and looked at some Monet. Then we read The Sneeches and talked about being proud of who you are. I then gave them each the quote, "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." From Dr. Seuss. Then I gave them each a skin colored oval and some white ovals for eyes and let them make a self portrait with some tempura cakes and yarn for hair. It was a huge hit, they all loved it, they were all so creative and cute.

This one we did just on Friday. They are having kind of a "Spring Week" talking a lot about flowers and plants and planting. We did our art then we made these flowers with some cut out stems and leaves, then they each had 4-5 different circles they could cut and shape into petals or whatever. The stems and circles were just scrapbook paper and magazine cuttings. We then secured the circles with brads. They were so adorable all hanging on the wall. The little Kinder-garden. (cheesy!)
